By now you have probably heard – I’m going full steam ahead with my chosen topic, video marketing. For the following reasons:
- I love the video medium. I think it has a lot of potential, and its why I chose to study the topic at university.
- I want to know more about video marketing (I skipped the marketing courses at uni – now I’m regretting it!).
- When you talk about information video marketing; it is so very different in the way it is written, structured, created (especially the budget!) to traditional types of broadcast media.
- I love making videos. It’s more than just a hobby of mine that I would like to continue to pursue.
- It’s a proven niche that other people are interested in learning more about.
So today I finished off my video, and uploaded it to YouTube.
I was however a little concerned by its length – (seeing that most videos should only be 2-3 mins length… so if tested your attention span… I’m sorry!) But I think more importanly, I’m not trying to be Mr. Know-It-All, the instant guru. I’m allowed to make mistakes along the way!
I’ve created a launch page at http://www.masteringvideomarketing.com – If you would like to know when the blog goes live, feel free to subscribe. Meanwhile I’m busily studying and preparing content to share.
Although I’m keen to share the answers to the questions that I currently have, I’d love to know what questions you have that go unanswered. What is it about video marketing that you don’t get? What are the reasons why you wouldn’t use video marketing in your business? What’s stopping you from using information video marketing?

The video idea is ok but I personally have a slow internet connection so I seldom watch videos. ( your video stopped at 2:44 minutes on my computer).
My suggestion would be that there are detailed show notes for people like me so that if I can’t actually view the video I can still get the message.
Another suggestion would be a podcast version. Podcasts seem to work on my computer.
To answer the questions you posed:
1.What is it about video marketing that you don’t get?
-How do you integrate your ads into your video?
-Are your intentions to just provide information with your video’s and let the site ads do the selling?
2.What are the reasons why you wouldn’t use video marketing in your business?
-I don’t understand how video is prepared for the internet. What equipment I would need to film and edit my video.
3.What’s stopping you from using information video marketing?
-Answered in 2. Lack of understanding of the process.
I’m a new reader of your site and it’s informative. Thanks for that.
I do like the idea for video marketing and I look forward to seeing what you accomplish.( and by seeing I mean reading, ha,ha)
Hi Glen,
Thankyou very much for your feedback!
Yes I totally agree, show notes are a great idea. Infact, I will aim to produce podcast versions of all videos (including shownotes) so you can pick your medium!
Thankyou for all your questions. I’ll be working on some answers for you, and will post them on the new blog shortly. (I’ll leave another comment to let you know when they are ready!)
