The Person

Joel AnnesleyWhat my keyring says about me:

Joel can be described as: “one who enjoys the sun and outdoors, feeling he comes alive with nature, finds the challenge of the unknown exciting as it brings out his best. Quick to act when action is called for, you can always depend on him as he does his best at all times, love by all who know him.”

The question is does this describe me or does it apply to every Joel on the planet?

Lets see…

Hi!

I’m 24 year old guy living in Brisvegas (Brisbane, QLD, Australia).  I work full time in the print media industry and on my weekends I love to cherish the chance to appreciate everything that the South East Queensland has to offer. (Now in Canberra)   An ever growing cafe scene and some gorgeous beaches and bush walks are some of the region’s finest qualities.  But I’m originally from further north – Far North Queensland.

I grew up on 80 acres of bushland, which backed onto a quarry. As a child, I was never overly interested in nature – and all I wanted to do is discover technology, art and the city. I still remember a decision by my parents to purchase either our first computer or a set of encyclopedias. To my horror, the encyclopedias won.  After my initial protests, (mainly because my siblings and I were using the books as building blocks) our first computer was born.  I guess we always want what we don’t have – because now that I live inner city, I appreciate nothing better than to escape the city skyline to get back to nature and go bush-walking.

I decided to So I guess you could say I was a cross between a geek and an artist. Although I was initially looking into studying IT, I decided to pick media and creative industries as my chosen field. I studied at the Queensland University of Technology, where I where I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to develop my creative skills and I found a passion for scriptwriting, photography and film making. Now I’m making a commitment to myself to get back to these passions and create a lifestyle that will allow me to be the creative story teller that I’ve always wanted to be.

My Random Quirks

  • Coffee and dark chocolate are some of my biggest loves – and yes they should be mixed together.
  • I prefer comedy over action films.
  • I’m always described as being tall – but yes I think I have finally stopped the growth spurts.
  • I’m not a morning person (up until recently!)
  • I CAN’T control my socks – there are always a few odd ones lurking about.
  • I have an issue with eating the same thing twice from menu.
  • I’ll pick red over white wine any-day (and skip beer altogether – sorry!)
